Daphne finds herself heartbroken and in the company of the most unlikely of people when her fiancé dumps her for his childhood best friend — leaving her to shack up with none other than said childhood best friend’s equally heartbroken ex-boyfriend.

Miles starts off as a rather scrappy and unlikely love interest for Daphne, but wins you over in earnest with time, and he absolutely oozes effortless charm. When they eventually come together, it works because they’ve seen each other at their worst — literally — and that makes their love story actually believable.

Happy Place (2023)

Harriet and Wyn aren’t together anymore (for reasons they’re not entirely clear on themselves) but when their friend group’s annual trip to Maine comes around and nobody is the wiser about their breakup, they decide to delay the inevitable and pretend like they’re still as in love as ever. Cue the sexual tension, right? Except, spoiler-non-spoiler alert, the ruse might not be one after all.

It’s heartbreaking in all the right places — and it’ll help glue the pieces back together, too. But a word to the wise: it just might trigger some particularly potent thoughts about your own past splits, or give you some potentially ill-advised ideas to call your ex. (Pro tip: Don’t!)

Book Lovers (2022)

It’s a tale of two literary agents with nothing in common — except, maybe, all the right things. Book Lovers is one of Henry’s best. It sees Nora Stephens swindled by her little sister, Libby, into a monthlong trip to Sunshine Falls, N.C., where instead of escapism, she finds Charlie Lastra.

Despite her best efforts not to think of the surly book editor, she does, and boy is it fun – plus, he seems more than willing to help her check a few things off the ridiculous bucket list Libby’s crafted for her. This one hits one of our favorite tropes in all the right places.

People We Meet on Vacation (2021)

Alex and Poppy are an unlikely pair of best friends who met by chance in a car ride during college and spent the next decade taking annual trips to tropical and fabulous destinations — until all of a sudden, they don't anymore (and spoiler alert: it's not for a very valid reason).

Poppy has had enough of the radio silence. She risks it all by convincing Alex to take one more trip with her, for old time's sake. The stakes are high, and she just wants to fix what's broken and right her wrongs — but there are a lot of feelings mixed up in there, too, and Alex's nerdy broodiness doesn't help matters either.

This one follow the classic one-bed trope — plus a bonus for broken air conditioning. Forced proximity combined with minimal pajamas? You can imagine the rest... But it's all a bit underwhelming.

Beach Read (2020)

Augustus and January are two authors who accidentally end up renting cottages next to each other one summer, when they both just happen to be facing some major writer’s block. They challenge each other to write something different to try and break through their creative ruts. For Gus, that means something that doesn’t involve all the characters dying. For January, that looks like the next Great American Novel.  What neither of them see coming is the big, wonderful love story that's happening right under their noses.

It’s hard to argue with Gus and January’s intoxicating chemistry and poignant love story, so Beach Read falls at the top of many an Emily Henry reader’s favorites list – and with good reason!

Winona and Lucille have to get out. They hatch a plan to escape small town Michigan and flee to Chicago — getting Winona far away from her secretly abusive father, the local celebrity weatherman, and freeing Lucille from bearing the weight of keeping her family afloat.

Despite needing $3,000 and possibly resorting to stealing a convertible to make their way to the Windy City, the girls will stop at nothing to escape. Think Thelma and Louise, but funny.

Hello Girls was co-written by Henry and Brittany Cavallaro.

Franny and her friends all have one thing in common: they all were left unharmed when the steel mill in their small Ohio town exploded five years ago, but their loved ones weren't as lucky. Franny's brother remains in a coma and she and her friends spend their free time down sci-fi rabbit holes, until they accidentally stumble upon something not-so-unbelievable — and they catch it on film.

After that, nothing will ever be the same.

Henry's take on the classic Romeo and Juliet forbidden love story sees two teenagers finding each other despite the shared history of their dueling families. June O'Donnell was raised to abhor Saul Angert — and his family — but you know what they say: there's a thin line...

As they find themselves stuck in each other's orbit, June must face the facts: she doesn't hate Saul, despite his last name — and, what's worse — there may be some not-so-loveable family history on her side of the divide.

In Henry's first foray into the literary world, Natalie Cleary is on the cusp of the rest of her life. Her final summer in small-town Kentucky is off to a great start, when all of a sudden, things take a turn. Cut to an apparition from her "Grandmother" fit with a warning — and a deadline — to "save" an unknown "him," and Natalie finds herself at a loss when she meets Beau the next night and nothing is the same.

Described as a blend of Friday Night Lights and The Time Traveler's Wife, The Love That Split the World sees Natalie losing her grip on everything she knows as she fights to make things work with Beau.
