1 hurt in fresh Manipur violence
Guwahati: One person sustained a gunshot wound during a clash between armed village volunteers and unidentified gunmen near Heirok village in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Friday.
The incident occurred when the gunmen opened fire on Heirok village, prompting the volunteers to retaliate. The exchange of fire lasted an hour, leaving Ningthoujam James Singh being injured and hospitalized in Imphal, the police said.

Additional state and central police forces have been deployed in the area to control the situation and conduct operations.
In a separate incident, a sawmill near Pallel in Kakching district was set ablaze by suspected miscreants. Despite the prompt arrival of fire tenders, the mill was completely destroyed. Security forces have initiated efforts to nab those responsible for the arson. TNN
