PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Gresham man faces a murder charge after officials say he stabbed a homeless man the morning after Christmas in 2023.

Antony Kassab, 20, is accused of the second-degree murder of 35-year-old Cody Funk, who was found unresponsive on the sidewalk near the corner of Southeast Division and 190th Avenue.

Kassab appeared in court on Friday, but was already in custody for a separate stabbing in January 2024. The victim survived, but was also experiencing homelessness at the time of the attack.

“This suspect targeted particularly vulnerable members of the community. His behavior has no place in Gresham,” Police Chief Travis Gullberg said.
