HOUSTON (KIAH) –The City of Sugar Land recently made the decision to join the Brew City, Texas program to foster Courts Craft Beer Tourism, Economic Development and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The program was launched by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild in March 2024. Sugar Land joined as an “Emerging Brewscape’ for business owners, entrepreneurs, and Texas breweries to expand local opportunities. Through new development opportunities, Sugar Land will welcome new ventures that will contribute to the craft beer industry in Texas.

“Saint Arnold Brewery has been a strong partner for several of Sugar Land’s community events for many years. As a growing city, we are excited about joining the program, and with Talyard’s opening soon, Sugar Land is poised to be the first city in the program to make the transition from an ‛Emerging Brewscape’ to a ‛Craft Beer Destination’ before the end of the year,” Event Production Manager Briana Williams said. Talyard Brewing Co. is opening a 3.5-acre site at 1033 Imperial Blvd later this year.

More than 400 breweries call the Lone Star State home and craft beer pours in $4.5 billion yearly to the Texas economy and supports more than 30,000 jobs. Texas ranks 47th when it comes to the potential for industry growth in Sugar Land. “The Brew City, Texas program represents a significant milestone in the Texas Craft Brewers Guild’s efforts to support and elevate the craft brewing industry in Texas,” said TCBG Executive Director Caroline Wallace. “By collaborating with ‘emerging brewscapes’ like Sugar Land who are seeking a brewery partner to bolster tourism, drive economic development and provide a fun and engaging ‘third space’ destination for local residents, we aim to stimulate local economies and further establish Texas as a world-class beer market.”
