Gregg Hall, the WI Proud Artist of the Month, and where to find him

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – As we wave goodbye to March, we also bring to a close Gregg Hall’s reign as the WI Proud Artist of the Month. Thankfully, the always busy, and remarkable, musician is leaving us with plenty of “meat” to share with, you, his adoring public. Not only is he (and the many incantations of all things Deece) packing the schedule with various opportunities to see him play music, but a little festival he’s in charge of also received some incredible news recently.

You can always find where Hall will be on his Website, but I want to highlight some of the tribute shows he is going to be a part of in the near future:

  • ROCK’N BLUES NIGHT and DEECEFEST PREPPARTY– If you act fast, you might be able to get tickets to the Allman Brothers Tribute show happening at The Main. Mr. Hall will join Matt Becker, the Tommy Bentz Bad and “many special guests” in paying tribute to the band that (arguably) put Southern Rock on the map. Plus, this soiree is the official Deecefest Preparty with the Gravel Road Band providing the early festivities (April 6th, The Main – An Event Center)

  • RUNNING IN THE SHADOWS – May the Fourth be with you… and also with Fleetwood Mac. Deece Productions is bringing an All-Star tribute for one of the 70’s most tumultuous, but also iconic, bands to South Hall of the La Crosse Center. Double treat, Gregg Hall and the Wrecking Ball will be opening that show. (May 4th, La Crosse Center)

  • PETTY COMES ALIVE – Hall will be joined by Chris Castino (The Big Wu), Trent Norton (Honeydogs), Dan Israel, Noah Levy (Brian Setzer, Soul Asylum) and “Hondo” Juntunen (White Iron Band, Mark Joseph) in paying tribute to one of America’s most recognizable song writers, Tom Petty. (May 26th, Alpine Inn)

Finally, there is Cheech’s Deecefest. For at least the last 5 years, Gregg and his partners in Deece Productions have brought the Coulee Region its very own weekend festival. July 26th through the 28th, of this year, bands like People Brothers Band, TUGG, Howard “Guitar” Luedtke, a special reunion of Norm’s Headache and a bunch of Hall’s many friends will descend on Bluebird Campground for another weekend of music, fun and family.

Cheech’s Deecefest got some pretty Deece news recently. The Midwest County Music Organization announced that Cheech’s Deecefest has been nominated for the 2023 Music Event/Festival of the Year. The world will find out if they know what we already know… and that is Cheech’s Deecefest is the Music Event/festival of EVERY year… not just the last one.

Check your schedules, mark your calendar, and go see some live music. You have countless opportunities, every single weekend here in the Coulee Region to take in live music of some sort. Each and every weekend you have the opportunity to see some of the most talented people in the area on a stage somewhere near you. Among those souls, baring themselves for your entertainment will be Gregg Hall. He might be with his Wrecking Ball or the White Iron Band, or sitting in with any number of bands, or he might be by himself. No matter how you find him, you can be assured that what you will see is a professional, real-deal, musician with quite a few stories to share.
