HICKORY, N.C. – Hickory Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash on April 13 between an SUV and motorcycle that resulted in one dead, according to a news release.
The release states that on April 13 at 11:37 pm, a 2018 Ford Escape, driven by Stephanie Harris, was driving east on US Hwy 70, while a 2007 BMW motorcycle, driven by Coble Hartman, was traveling west on the same highway. Harris attempted to make a left turn onto 19th Street Drive when the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Ford Escape, as said by in the release.
Police say that Hartman was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 19-years-old.
Investigators say that speed and impairment were factors in the crash and charged Harris with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and driving while license revoked after impaired revocation.
This investigation is ongoing.
