Single-car crash claims life of Stuarts Draft teen Saturday: Virginia State Police

STUARTS DRAFT — A single-car crash Saturday afternoon left an Augusta County teenager dead, according to Virginia State Police.

Police said Mackenzie G. Conner, 16, of Stuarts Draft, was ejected when her 1994 GMC 1500 went off the road to the right, then to the left before becoming airborne and striking a tree. Conner was taken to the University of Virginia Hospital where she later died, according to police.

The wreck happened in the 5100 block of Coal Road, a two-lane gravel road, at 3:34 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
