CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – A Cumberland County sheriff’s vehicle was involved in a head-on crash Monday night.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on West Trindle Road near the intersection of Horners Road in South Middleton Township.

State Police say a marked Cumberland County Sheriff’s vehicle was headed westbound with its emergency lights and sirens on and attempted to pass other vehicles.

During the attempt to pass, the sheriff’s vehicle was then struck head-on in the eastbound lane by a Honda SUV.

The operator of the sheriff’s vehicle was taken to UPMC Carlisle for minor injuries. The driver of the Honda was taken to Penn State Holy Spirit for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation and the road reopened shortly before 9 p.m.
