Bengals Select Popular First-Round Option in Major Mock Draft
Johnny Newton could be the pick for Cincinnati in the first round.
CINCINNATI — The Bengals rolled with a popular name in the latest NFL.com mock draft from Charles Davis. Cincinnati took Illinois defensive tackle Johnny Newton at Pick 18.
"The recent signing of Trent Brown to play right tackle allows the Bengals to add a forceful and needed defensive tackle for DC Lou Anarumo," Davis wrote.
Newton is the consensus big board's 25th-best prospect overall and the second-best defensive tackle behind Texas star Byron Murphy.
Newton's one of the more popular Bengals picks in the first round with Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham (23.9% of mocks on the consensus big board) as the most popular mock choice as of this writing.
