Narrow escape for travellers as pvt bus catches fire in city
Hyderabad: Aleast 15 passengers narrowly escaped a potentially tragic incident when a private bus they were travelling in caught fire just 30 minutes after starting its journey, near Kompally X roads.
The bus, belonging to a private travel company, was en route to Raipur on Monday night when passengers noticed flames and smoke emanating from the vehicle.
They quickly evacuated the bus, ensuring their safety. It was reported that the driver fled the scene following the fire accident.
“Based on initial investigations, a short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire, as the vehicle's body would not heat up so quickly under normal circumstances. We received a call at around 8 pm, and immediately deployed two fire tenders to the scene. However, by the time we arrived, the bus was already engulfed in massive flames. We are currently in the process of collecting more information about the travel agency that operated the bus,” said V Subhash Reddy, fire station officer, Jeedimetla.
