PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Not to bring anyone down, but the 1970s hit makers Electric Light Orchestra announced their farewell tour Monday, including a show in Portland.

The band, now known as Jeff Lynne’s ELO following several offshoots by former ELO members, was a radio charts mainstay through the 70s and 80s with huge songs like Evil Woman, Mr. Blue Sky and Telephone Line, however, the band never reached number one.

Lead singer and songwriter Jeff Lynne also produced numerous albums including Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever and Roy Orbison’s final album Mystery Girl.

The British band is set to make their final lap around the United States this summer, including an early tour stop on August 30th at the Moda Center.

Presales for the tour begin this Wednesday, with public sales beginning Friday at Ticketmaster.

Jeff Lynne’s ELO was last in Portland in 2019.
