Find a book to curl up with by the pool. Add some of your favorite movies, CDs and classic vinyl records to your collection. Grab a game or puzzle for your whole family to enjoy.

The Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale returns April 24-28, kicking off with the Friends Night Preview Sale on April 23.

A few notable items available in this spring’s sale include a large collection of first edition Anne Rice novels, Mad Magazine paperbacks from the 1960s and art books containing vintage illustrations of pin-up or pulp fiction art.

Come early; these items will go quickly!

Variety and treasures are why the Friends’ book sales are wildly popular. That, and because most adult, young adult, children’s books, DVDs and CDs are just $1, or $2 and up from the Better Books side.

Get a first look at everything at the Friends Night Preview Sale from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23. Friends members can shop that night for free; non-members can pay $5 at the door to become a member and shop.

There’s no admission for the regular sale:

  • Wednesday-Friday, April 24-26, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.;
  • Saturday, Half-Price Day, April 27, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.;
  • Sunday, Bag Day, April 28, 1-5 p.m., when everything you can jam in a sack is $1, or $5 from Better Books.

It all happens at the E*Plex, Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, 3001 N. Grant Ave. Parking is free. Friends accept cash or check only. Bring your own bag to fill with new treasures.

Proceeds from the sale provide programs, author events, concerts and more at the Springfield-Greene County Libraries.
