Conjoined Twins Abby and Brittany Hensel Appear to Respond to Online Attention Over Abby’s Marriage

Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel are speaking out.

In videos posted on their shared TikTok page on Friday, the former TLC reality star siblings, 34, appeared to respond to the online attention they have received, and to call out "haters," after it was publicly revealed earlier this week that Abby married United States Army veteran Josh Bowling in 2021.

“The internet is extra LOUD today,” Abby and Brittany wrote alongside one clip showing a series of photos of historical sculptures of conjoined twins as the song “Real Love Baby” by Father John Misty played over the top. 

Their caption continued, “We have always been around ❤️#abbyandbrittanyhensel #happy #love #lovestory #marriage.”

In a second video, captioned “#forever,” the pair were seen embracing Abby’s husband Bowling in a photo as a voiceover said, “This is for all you haters out there. If you don’t like what I do but watch everything I’m doing — you’re still a fan.”

Although neither of their posts referenced any specific social media comments, the twins’ TikTok videos come after attention they received this week over news of Abby’s relationship with Bowling, with whom she tied the knot in 2021, according to public records obtained by Today.

In Abby and Britany's Facebook profile photo, they are seen in what appears to be a wedding photo, wearing a wedding dress and holding hands with Bowling, who sports a grey suit and stands opposite.

The Hensels, who became known after appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996, reside in their home state of Minnesota and are now fifth-grade teachers, according to Today.

On his own Facebook page, Bowling has also shared photos of him spending time with the twins, while his X (formerly Twitter) profile, reads, "Christian, Father, Husband, Veteran, and occasional gamer."

PEOPLE reached out to the representatives of Abby and Brittany Hensel, as well as Bowling, this week but did not immediately get a response.

Abby and Brittany are dicephalus conjoined twins, which is a rare form of partial twinning where two heads both share one torso. As well as sharing all organs below the waist, the twins also share a bloodstream. Brittany controls their left arm and leg, while Abby controls the right.

When they were born, doctors offered to separate the twins however their parents, Patty and Mike, decided against it after being told their daughters had little chance of surviving the surgery.

The Hensels appeared in the TLC reality series Abby & Brittany after their Oprah appearance and the show followed their lives as they graduated from Minnesota's Bethel College and went on travels in Europe.

"People have been curious about us since we were born, for obvious reasons," the twins said in the first episode of the eight-part series, per ABC. "But our parents never let us use that as an excuse. We were raised to believe we could do anything we wanted to do."
