MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - We’re continuing to see temperatures well above the norm for this time of year thanks to a high pressure just off in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tonight, temps drop into the lower 60s with clouds moving in overnight. A stray shower is possible, but not likely. Tuesday will see temperatures back in the mid 80s with mostly sunny skies, dropping back into the mid 60s overnight with clouds building into Wednesday. Mostly cloudy skies on Wednesday will provide some relief from the heat with a high in the lower 80s, before temperatures climb back into the mid 80s by Thursday with mostly cloudy skies. Stray showers are possible through the latter half of this week, which could provide localized cooling.

Friday could see nearly record-breaking temperatures as we approach the upper 80s. Record highs for this time of year reside in the upper 80s and lower 90s, so stay tuned to Storm Team 11 to see if any new records are set.

Moving on through the coming weekend, temperatures drop into the lower 80s as rain moves back into the picture. Saturday will have a high in the lower 80s and showers in the afternoon and evening. Sunday will see more rain and the bulk of the front move through, causing highs to top out in the lower 70s, before rising back into the mid 70s by next Monday with clearing skies.
