EIGHT MILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The man accused of shooting the store owner of T&J Food Mart in Eight Mile pleaded not guilty to his charges Tuesday morning in an arraignment hearing.

Rashad Kardelle Norwood, 30, pleaded not guilty just one day after a judge denied his bond.

Norwood was arrested Sunday night with his cousin.

He is facing an attempted murder charge and a first-degree robbery charge after he allegedly shot the store owner five times before going into the food mart and taking the cash register.

The store owner is still recovering in the hospital.

Norwood has a preliminary hearing on May 2.
