Complaint filed against GOP Congressional Candidate

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A complaint has been filed against congressional candidate Dave Williams, accusing him of using money from the Colorado Republican Party to pay for his campaign.

Williams is running for Colorado’s 5th Congressional district, which represents El Paso County. He is also currently the head of the state’s GOP party. Kelly Maher, a longtime Colorado Republican political analyst, filed the complaint with the federal election commission, accusing Williams of using party resources to pay for campaign fliers.

“Dave Williams has turned the Colorado GOP into a little creepy cult for his own gain,” said Maher. “He’s punishing those who dare to stand up to his childish tactics. But he can only act like this if we let him, and tolerating this behavior needs to end now. The party should exist to elect Republicans up and down the ballot, not to further the aspirations of a single individual.”

Williams’ campaign responded with the following statement, attempting to allege a connection between the complaint and his Congressional opponent Jeff Crank:

“Jeff Crank is pathetic as this FEC complaint is clearly a desperate attempt to hide his support for globalist candidate Nikki Haley and his record of being an open border lobbyist for Americans for Chinese Prosperity in order to generate fake news against President Trump’s endorsed candidate, Dave Williams.”

Maher said she is not in contact with Crank and added “nowhere does (the statement) address the actual basis of my complaint. He tries to distract with this bizarre run-on word-salad sentence but fails to defend his misuse and abuse of his role as Chairman.”
