MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police have charged a 17-year-old with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of two teenagers who were shot last year at a home in Hickory Hill.

Police identified the suspect as Alvin Davis. Despite being a juvenile, Davis is being held in the county jail at 201 Poplar, where he was booked Wednesday on $250,000 bond.

The deadly shooting happened last June 11 in the 6000 block of Valleydale Drive. Police on Thursday identified the victims as Denisha Pittman, 15, and Kentavion Dancy, 18.

Both were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Kentavion’s aunt Asia Partee says he was a good kid who loved sports and didn’t deserve to die.

“He was a calm quiet kid that played basketball and went to school every day, and sports was his thing,” she said. “He always wanted to be a basketball player. So, we pushed him and led him in the right direction to do so.”

Police at the time did not identify the victims or release information on a motive, only saying that four suspects in red hoodies got away.

“I just feel like it’s unnecessary. He took a great person from us way too soon,” Partee said. “I’m glad that they did make an arrest so that he can get the time that he deserves for brutally murdering my nephew and his girlfriend.”

Kentavion’s family says their purpose will be to be in court whenever Davis goes on trial as they demand justice.

“We’ll be there every step of the way to make sure this young man gets the time that he deserves for brutally murdering my nephew and his girlfriend,” Partee said.
