SO CALLERS CAN NOW GRANT DISPATCHERS ACCESS TO THE CAMERA ON THEIR PHONES. SO THEY’LL SEE EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE SEEING IN REAL TIME, DISPATCHERS WILL ASK THE CALLER IF THEY CAN HAVE ACCESS TO THE CAMERA, AND THEN SEND THEM A TEXT MESSAGE WITH A LINK TO GRANT PERMISSION, AND IT WILL NOT BE ASKED FOR EVERY CALL. THE CALLER CAN END ACCESS TO THE CAMERA FEED AT ANY TIME. POLICE SAY THIS WILL HELP IN KNOWING HOW BEST TO RESPOND TO 911 CALLS. THE WILKES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CHAIRMAN IS NOW STEPPING DOWN STONY GREENE MADE THAT ANNOUNCEMENT JUST ONE MINUTE BEFORE LAST NIGHT’S MEETING STARTED.
