WEST WINDSOR –Westrick Music Academy announced the 35th anniversary of its Princeton Girlchoir program. The choir was founded in 1989 by Janet Westrick with 27 young girls. It has since grown into a world-class music education program with six choirs under the Westrick Music Academy umbrella.

Each year, the Princeton Girlchoir and its sibling programs provide opportunities for over 350 students ages 6-18 to develop through music. Approximately 25% of participants receive financial support.

“As a member of the Princeton Girlchoir family for over a decade, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of this organization firsthand,” said Tina Biswas, a co-president of the Westrick Music Academy board, and who has had three daughters in the Princeton GirlchoirPrinceton Girlchoir not only gives girls a voice, but it also nurtures their grace and confidence, helping them blossom into strong, empowered young women. Happy 35th anniversary to Princeton Girlchoir and here’s to many more years of empowering girls through music!”

The Princeton Girlchoir has performed with renowned artists like mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The choirs have also sung at prestigious venues across the country and internationally. Notable attendees have included Hillary Clinton, Sandra Day O’Connor, and Jeb Bush.

The 35th anniversary season began in January 2024. It will culminate in a concert called “United in Song” on May 11th at the Patriots Theater in Trenton. The performance will feature all six Princeton Girlchoir ensembles as well as alumni.
