The election results from the 2024 Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Election are now out.
Nistha Boghra, current USG executive vice president, won the election for USG President against junior Pranav Jagannath by a landslide of 1,270 votes to 726 votes. 503 students voted no confidence in this category. Boghra will succeed current USG President Devin Lobosco who is graduating this semester.
In a fierce competition for Executive Vice President, at-large Senator Ray Chen won with 901 votes. At-large Senators Adam Pareek and Luca Rallis followed suit with 656 and 490 votes, respectively.
Current Student Activities Board Treasurer Bonnie Wong will take over current Treasurer Amitesh Reddy Akiti’s role. The vote difference between the two candidates was 308 votes. However, this category received the highest number of no-confidence votes with 565.
Current Vice President of Communications Arnav Sawant lost his bid for re-election to at-large Senator Lamia Rathi.
Senior Tanisa Rahman won against junior Andrew Candio and is set to become next year’s Vice President of Student Life. Rahman will be succeeding current Vice President of Student Life Isaiah Daniel, who is graduating this semester.
Sophomore Sarah Elbaroudy won her respective race for Vice President of University Affairs by a large margin against freshman Ajay Singh, who won 600 votes, and freshman Aaryn Anand, who received 576 votes. She will be succeeding the current Vice President of University Affairs Joe Bisiani.
Junior Aryan Sharma will hold the position of Vice President of Clubs and Organizations next year. He defeated challenger junior Tasha Yashrub, 1126 votes to 756 votes; 593 students voting no confidence.
At-large Senator David Safo will become Chief Justice next year, a new position in USG that comes with the revival of the organization’s Judicial Board. In this position, Safo will be responsible for overseeing the Board and leading four Associate Justices. Safo received 628 votes, while challengers sophomore James Gill, at-large Senator Christian Jean-Pierre, junior Hugo E. Osorio and at-large Senator Antonios Manolas received 555 votes, 407 votes, 206 votes and 143 votes, respectively. 552 students voted no confidence.
The Student Activity Fee (SAF) was voted to be mandatory for all undergraduate students to pay, though the vote was close: 1,395 students voted for the SAF to be mandatory and 1,158 students voted for it to be voluntary. The fee was put on the ballot as outlined in SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr.’s policies.

425 students voted no confidence for the Senate. Two Senate seats are reserved for the Residential Hall Association and the Commuter Student Association. These two organizations host their own elections separately from USG. The only returning Senator is senior Peter Joyce.
