Henderson’s Taylor collects 3 hits in LeTourneau win

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Former Henderson Lion Jaci Taylor had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored in LeTourneau’s second game of a doubleheader sweep of Centenary in softball action on Tuesday.

The freshmen led off the second game and started in centerfield. She was 3-for-4 in the game. In the first inning, Taylor singled to shortstop and stole second base. She later scored on a sacrifice bunt to give the Yellowjackets an early lead. Taylor doubled to left center in the second inning and scored on a single to put the Yellowjackets up, 5-0. She got her last hit in the sixth inning.

LeTourneau won the second game, 8-4.

In the first game, former Shelbyville Dragon Mickenzie Murry was 2-of-3 with an RBI and run scored and three stolen bases. She singled to right in the second inning and drove in a run to extend the Yellowjackets lead to 2-0. She later stole second. Murry singled to center in the sixth inning and stole second, then third, then scored on a stolen base attempt to make the score 5-0. LeTourneau won the first game with that score.

Maddie Flanery (Tyler Legacy) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and stolen base. Flanery singled up the middle in the first and then stole second base. She scored the first run of the game on a single. She pushed a run across in the fifth on a groundout. Lexi Dodson (White Oak) was 0-for-2 with a walk.

LeTourneau improves to 9-8 on the season. The Yellowjackets will host a three-game set against Howard Payne starting on Friday with first pitch coming at 6 p.m.
