CARBONDALE, Illinois (KWWL)—The UNI Softball team could not get much going at the plate on Sunday. They fell to Southern Illinois 9-1, dropping the final game of a three-game weekend series.

The Panthers won the first two games on Friday and Saturday, so they still won the weekend series.

The lone Panther run came on a solo home run to right field by Alexis Pupillo, her league-leading 11th home run of the year.

Southern Illinois got on the board early with a two-run home run by Sidney Jones and kept pouring on the runs all afternoon long, rocking UNI pitchers for 12 hits, including four extra-base hits and two home runs.

UNI is now 16-11 and 4-2 in conference play.

The Panthers will make the roughly hour-and-a-half drive to Ames on Tuesday to take on Iowa State.
