Man killed in early-morning fire at North Port home

NORTH PORT, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was found dead after a fire broke out at a North Port home early Sunday morning.

Shortly after midnight, North Port Fire Rescue and the North Port Police Department were dispatched to the 3000 block of S. Salford Boulevard for reports of a structure fire.

When fire rescue crews arrived on the scene, they found one man dead inside the residence.

Based on preliminary reports, the cause of the fire appears to be accidental; however, the police department and the State Fire Marshall are investigating the blaze.
