Burger King’s New Candy-Inspired Drink Has Fans Feeling Nostalgic

Burger King’s dessert menu always gets the job done, with its classic Hershey’s Sundae Pie; its trio of chocolate, Oreo, or chocolate Oreo shakes; and its soft-serve ice cream cups and cones. But starting next week, the most royal of all fast food chains is adding a new cotton candy-inspired drink to its menu for a limited time. 

The Burger King Frozen Cotton Candy beverage delivers a hint of nostalgia with every sip, with a combination of blue raspberry and cotton candy flavors that will remind you of summer weekends at the shore, your first visit to a theme park, or buying a massive cotton candy cloud from a surprisingly shouty ballpark vendor. The new drink will be available at Burger King restaurants nationwide starting next Thursday, April 11. And if you want to be a little extra, you could add a cold foam cloud topping to your order too. (Actually, you can add a cold foam cloud to any frozen beverage from Burger King.)

“After bringing the heat last summer with the successful launch of our Frozen Fanta Kickin’ Mango, we wanted to cool things off a bit this season with our new, refreshingly sweet Frozen Cotton Candy beverage offerings,” Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer at Burger King North America said in a statement. “And our innovative cold foam topper is just another way we’re bringing ‘Have It Your Way’ to life.” 

Burger King is also leaning into the cloud theme with a new game in its app. Members of Burger King’s Royal Perks loyalty program can play Cloud Float in the BK app, where they can win prizes that include Royal Perks Crowns that can be redeemed for menu items; food and drink perks like free Whoppers, shakes, and Cotton Candy Cloud drinks; plus limited-edition Burger King merch including pullovers, sandals, and socks. The Cloud Float game also launches on Thursday, April 11, and will be available through the app through Sunday, May 5. 

The Miami-based burger giant has had a string of limited-edition wins so far this year, including its Candied Bacon Whopper and its week of $1 deals to help everyone cope with the Daylight Savings Time. Last month also saw the debut of its spiced-up Fiery Buffalo Royal Crispy Chicken Wrap and Fiery Buffalo Chicken Nuggets. And now if your Fiery order is a little too hot, you can cool yourself off with a cloud-topped Frozen Cotton Candy drink.
