18-year-old named as victim in fatal crash on State Road 26

TRAFFIC ALERT: SR 26 W closed due to crash between N 400 W and N Sharon Chapel Road

The crash closed State Road 26 between Klondike and Sharon Chapel roads for several hours.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The name has been released of the woman who died in the fatal crash on State Road 26 West in Tippecanoe County.

According to the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office, 18-year-old June Anneliese Florian died after a head on collision on S.R. 26.

At around 7:30 a.m., police say a collision happened after a Dodge Caliber driven by Florian crossed left of center headed westbound, striking a 60-year-old woman driving a Chrysler traveling eastbound.

Florian was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Chrysler was transported to IU Hospital and is currently in serious but stable condition. 

The road was closed for around with three hours during the investigation.

Florian was a senior at Harrison High School.

A spokesperson for Tippecanoe School Corp. says, "We are deeply saddened by this loss. Additional counselors are available at our schools to support our students and staff. The family remains in our thoughts and prayers."
