CSX train fatally hits 54-year-old man walking along tracks in Stanton

A 54-year-old man from Smyrna died Thursday night after being hit by a train in Stanton, according to Delaware State Police.

The man's name has not yet been released.

Police said the man was walking on the outside of the railroad tracks near 4949 Ogletown Stanton Road at around 5:15 p.m. The 54-year-old had his back to an oncoming CSX train traveling from New York to Washington, D.C., according to state police, and did not move from the tracks after the train operator blew the horn.

The train hit the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
