Ira N. Stone OBITUARY

On Saturday, March 30th, Ira Stone, aged 92, passed away in Rancho Mirage, California. He was predeceased by his beloved father and mother, Norman H. Stone and Ida Stone, his brother Alan Stone, his brothers-in-law Kenneth Haberman and Charles Stern. His career with Stone Container Corporation began after his graduation from The Wharton School of Business and encompassed every aspect of manufacturing and sales until his appointment as President of Stone International Paper that created a new worldwide market. Ira is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Stone, nee Lund, his beloved children Lisa Stone Pritzker and Lawrence (Anne) Stone, his sister Judith Haberman Stern, sister-in-law Joanie Stone and his devoted blended family Elizabeth (Richard) Sciortino. His total family group of grandchildren, eleven in number, had suffered the loss of one. His growing group of great-grandchildren counts as seven with two more expected very soon. Ira proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Funeral services will be held at Rosehill Cemetery, 5800 N. Ravenswood Avenue, Chicago, IL, in the May Chapel, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Entombment Rosehill Cemetery Mausoleum. Shiva will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Northmoor Country Club, 820 Edgewood Road, Highland Park, IL, following entombment.
