RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A single-vehicle rollover crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on April 11. Police were called to the intersection of Holiday Lane and Sheridan Road, and were advised that several bystanders were working on extinguishing flames from the car.

First responders on arrival located a single occupant inside the car, and began working to take them out. Emergency life-saving efforts were performed, but the driver was declared deceased at the scene.

After speaking to witnesses, police discovered the car was traveling southbound on Sheridan Lake Road at a high rate of speed. They were allegedly swerving in and out of traffic when the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a curve and left the east side of the road.

After leaving the road, the car struck a light pole, and a stop sign, crossed Holiday Lane, and entered the landscaping at 3808 Sheridan Lake Road, finally coming to rest on its roof.

The driver was identified as Vincent Bochmann, 30, of Smithwick.

The RCPD’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash.
