STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) -- Mid-State Technical College has worked for years to develop the next generation of business leaders.

As of last week, those leaders have a new home on the Stevens Point campus.

Called the LEAD Center (short for Lead, Engage, Aspire & Develop), Mid-State says the state-of-the-art facility will serve as a home base for the college's business management and leadership courses.

Formerly the campus' Academic Learning Center, the  LEAD Center has been open since January and celebrated its official ribbon cutting on April 1st.

Ben Nusz, dean of the Stevens Point campus, says it will provide their students hands-on experience and a place to grow while developing real-world connections they can use after graduation.

"This is one of the core confidence-builders for business students," Nusz explained, "they are not going to be leading projects, they will leading people, and so we need to make sure they are connecting with other people."
