Police said the object was recovered but would not say what it was when asked by KCRA 3.
Pollard was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right shoulder.
He was later released from a hospital and booked into a Modesto area jail for resisting arrest and assault on a peace office, police said.
The officer who shot Pollard was not injured. The 10-year veteran was put on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
