'I'm Still That Guy!' Should Dallas Cowboys Sign Dalvin Cook? Or Ezekiel Elliott?

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have on numerous occasions passed on chasing Dalvin Cook, who is now again a free agent ... sitting on the shelf ... making noise about his ability to still produce.

“I’ve got it all,” he told Houston's KPRC. "I didn’t really get no reps last year. So, the legs are fresh, so the resume speaks for itself. I’m still Dalvin Cook.

"I’m still that guy.''

Cook faded fast a year ago after the Vikings dumped the former Pro Bowler. He hooked on with the Jets but ended his New York time with only carries for 214 yards. After he was again cut late last year, he played for the Ravens, and even got eight carries (for 23 yards) in a playoff win over Houston.

But the Ravens have moved on from him as well.

Meanwhile, in Dallas, Tony Pollard has moved on to the Titans, the Cowboys have put in bids on ... well, pretty much on nobody (including a guy like Derrick Henry, who would've listened) ... and now names like Ezekiel Elliott - and yes, Cook - seem slightly more viable. ...

Out of desperation, some might say.

Cook - who reportedly likes the idea of playing in Dallas - sees it differently.

"I don't like to toot my own horn,'' Dalvin said while doing exactly that, and understandably so. "I just like to go out there, put my helmet on and line up on the grass.”
