Village Police and numerous Key Biscayne residents feverishly combed the area Monday evening, searching for a teenager with Down syndrome who was reported missing at 8:49 p.m.

The boy’s mother said he was found unharmed by 9:06 p.m. near The Towers. She posted a brief, thankful video on the KB Guardians WhatsApp chat site, where she had first posted that her son had disappeared from the Key Colony pool area.

She said his cellphone had later indicated a location near the Key Biscayne Beach Club, but when she called, there was no answer.

According to the location of the cell, it appeared he might have been walking toward the beach and then toward The Towers.

Several KB Guardians chat line members, now nearly 800 strong, went out looking in various directions, posting where they were stationed, from condo pools to the roadways. Finally, the boy's location was found via his cellphone's coordinates.

"This is exactly what the KBG is all about," said KB Guardians founder Morgan Duzoglou-Mariotti. "Thank you to all of you who sprung to action, kept calm and blanketed Key Biscayne to get Sebastian home safe."
