JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - It was a very special show of recognition in the Missouri State Capitol on Friday, March 29.

103-year-old Othmar Jasper, nicknamed “Ott,” served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was wounded, not once, but twice, earning two Purple Hearts for his service.

House lawmakers gave a standing ovation for the centenarian soldier after which he was crowded with handshakes and words of appreciation.

Jasper served from 1941 until the war ended in 1945.

He now lives in Washington, Missouri.
