THOSE WILL BE READY IN A FEW WEEKS FROM NOW. TURLOCK POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AFTER A MAN WAS SHOT BY AN OFFICER. IT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE 530 THIS MORNING ON VERMONT AVENUE BETWEEN WEST AVENUE AND SOUTH SAUNDERS ROAD. JUST MOMENTS AGO, POLICE IDENTIFIED THAT MAN AND A 37 YEAR OLD COREY POLLARD. POLICE SAY THEY GOT A CALL ABOUT A SUSPICIOUS PERSON WHO WAS LOOKING INTO CARS. THEY SAY WHEN THE OFFICER APPROACHED POLLARD TRIED TO RUN. POLICE SAY HE THEN SHOWED AN OBJECT IN A THREATENING WAY AND THE OFFICER THOUGHT HE WAS ARMED. THAT’S WHEN THE OFFICER SHOT POLLARD IN THE SHOULDER AND THE OFFICER WAS NOT HURT. A 37-year-old Turlock man was injured Wednesday morning after being shot by a police officer, Turlock police said. Turlock police said they received a call after 5 a.m. about a suspicious person who was looking into vehicles in the 900 block of Vermont Avenue between West Avenue and South Soderquist Road.The suspect, identified as Corey Pollard, fled on foot from an officer, who began to chase him. The shooting happened around 5:25 a.m. after the man "presented an object in a threatening manner," according to police. Police said the object was recovered but would not say what it was when asked by KCRA 3. Pollard was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his right shoulder. He was later released from a hospital and booked into a Modesto area jail for resisting arrest and assault on a peace office, police said. The officer who shot Pollard was not injured.
