GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A career-best year for Leilani Correa with the Gator women’s basketball team leads to her WNBA dream turning into an eye-opening reality. Correa is selected with the 27th pick in the WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever.

Correa averaged nearly 17 points a game and won the SEC 6th Man of the Year award. Correa and Aliyah Matharu were a dynamic duo that has led to a bright future under head coach Kelly Rae Finley. Correa is the first UF player to be drafted since Kiara Smith in 2022. But is only one of three players currently in the WNBA who played at Florida, Aneika Henry (since 2012) and DeLisha Milton Jones (since 2008).

Correa finished her Florida career with 2,107 points, the most in Florida men’s and women’s basketball history.

Correa is joining Iowa’s transcendent superstar Caitlin Clark and South Carolina legend Aliyah Boston on the Fever.

The season starts May 14th as the Fever take on the Connecticut Sun.
