Pedestrian in critical condition after hit by car in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A pedestrian is in critical condition after he was hit by a car in Chula Vista Sunday night, according to police.

The collision was reported just before 10:45 p.m. at the intersection between Orange Avenue and Albany Avenue, Chula Vista police said in a release on Monday. Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a 57-year-old Chula Vista man laying unresponsive in the roadway.

Chula Vista police and fire personnel rendered first aid to the pedestrian at the scene before he was transported to a nearby trauma center. As of Monday, he remains in critical condition.

The driver was uninjured and remained on scene, according to CVPD. They have not been identified by law enforcement.

An investigation by CVPD’s Traffic Bureau remains ongoing. The cause of the collision has not yet been determined. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact CVPD’s Traffic Bureau at 619-385-6652.
