Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has ripped into Manchester United's efforts after squandering their lead against Chelsea in a 4-3 defeat.

The outspoken pundit did not even spare two-goal Alejandro Garnacho as he criticised the winger's celebrations after putting the Red Devils ahead. Garnacho sat on an advertising board at Stamford Bridge after handing United an advantage to make the score 3-2 with 67 minutes gone.

Erik ten Hag's side led until the 100th minute when Cole Palmer converted from the penalty spot to level the scores. The former Man City ace then caught United's defenders unaware from a corner to record a dramatic win for the Blues.

Keown then suggested that criticism for 'overcelebrating' should be aimed in the direction of the 13-times Premier League champions, rather than the likes of Arsenal. The 57-year-old admitted that Man United are capable of producing highlights, but does not believe the likes of Antony and Garnacho should rest on their laurels.

"They produce good moments like Antony's ball to Garnacho, which was fantastic, but that's his first assist of the season for goodness' sake," Keown told talkSPORT.

"The way that the players celebrate – Garnacho, get your backside off the advertising board and get back and get ready to defend because the opposition are going to come at you.

"People say Arsenal over-celebrate but what are United doing? Everyone is celebrating that goal but I'm not having it, I want you back in position and to give give me something defensively."

Keown does not expect Ten Hag to remain in charge at Old Trafford. The club currently sit sixth in the Premier League but are nine points behind Tottenham who lie one place above.

The ex-central defender believes the Dutchman losing his job is 'inevitable' and that his inability to find leaders or understand the value in the side will see him lose his position.

He said: "One assumes not. He doesn't even seem to be able to see the problems.

"I don't know where the basics are or where the leaders are in that team. He's too reliant on individuals and, based on what he says after, he doesn't understand the value of the team.

"There will have to be changes at this rate. I don't like to see anyone lose their job but it's going to happen, it's inevitable isn't it?".
