Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Stabler Brothers Relive the Intervention That Went to Hell — Watch

The intervention that took place in this week’s Law & Order: Organized Crime went even worse than the one that took place in the show’s first season… which is really saying something.

As the episode’s synopsis teased, Elliot and Randall confronted their younger brother, Joe Jr., about his heroin use (and possible selling) during a tense conversation during this week’s hour. In the lead-up, El shared with Randall that he suspected Joe’s drug use began in Afghanistan. And when they broke into Joe’s place, they found needles, drugs and rolls of cash. “We’ve got to get him in rehab,” Elliot said, resigned. “Yes, we do,” Randall agreed.

When they finally get Joe alone, he lies that the drugs aren’t his. He repeatedly denies that he has a problem, even when Randall reveals that his own daughter, Connie, had some “issues” that required a similar sort of outside help. There’s a lot of yelling, then Joe gets angry that they’ve confiscated his stash and changed the code to his safe. He punches the door and stalks out.

Clammy and agitated, Joe shows up at Bernie’s place asking for money she’d put aside for him. When she remembers that she spent it on a PlayStation for Maureen’s boys, Joe loses his mind. Then he sees the baseball from the storage unit, the one that’s worth a lot of money. Joe grabs it and takes off, saying he’s going to leave town. When Randall reaches her, Bernie is very upset at the changes in her youngest son. “What did you do to him?” she demands.

Following up on our pre-episode chat with Dean Norris and Michael Trotter, who play Randall and Joe Jr. respectively, TVLine made sure we got the actors’ thoughts on how the confrontation went and what that charged family moment might lead to in the future. You can hear their answers by pressing PLAY on the video at the top of this post. But first, here’s what else happened during “Semper Fi”:

* Reyes is back!

* After the Organized Crime Control Bureau determines that the heroin Stabler found likely originated from a group of American military personnel in Afghanistan, he went undercover at a veterans’ support group in an attempt to infiltrate the ring. He eventually is successful, gaining an introduction to Angus Boone (played by Avatar‘s Stephen Lang), whose artisanal honey business is a front for more nefarious stuff, facilitated by young veterans. Stabler pretends to be so down and out that he needs a job and a place to stay; Boone takes him in and puts him to work.

* Back at OCCB, Sam’s wife, Stacy, is terrified: Her husband is missing. Reyes and Jet pose as a highly annoying influencer couple to make contact with Elliot and let him know that Sam is in danger.

* Elliot gets caught breaking Boone’s curfew and nearly kills the man who is about to turn him in. Soon after, El is assigned to help with a new task. And when he climbs into the back of the pickup truck that will take him to it, he notices there’s a body (living? dead?) that looks a lot like Sam back there with him.

OK — now it’s your turn. Watch the interview at the top of the post, then hit the comments with your thoughts on what might lie ahead for Joe Jr. and the rest of the Stablers.
