Aurora police seeking driver involved in hit-and-run crash with bicyclist Saturday afternoon

AURORA, Ill. — The Aurora Police Department is searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash with a bicyclist Saturday.

According to police, just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Route 59, north of Liberty Street, for a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist.

When officers arrived at the scene, they learned the vehicle had fled northbound on Route 59 after the crash. The bicyclist, a 65-year-old Naperville man, was transported to a local hospital by Aurora Fire Department paramedics and listed in serious condition.

Police are seeking to identify the car in the photo shown below, which is believed to be a black Volkswagen Beetle.
