A Tunica man is now facing charges months after a horrific crime that shook a Mississippi community to its core. Anthony "A.J." Carter Jr., 20, has been slapped with a string of serious charges including four counts of capital murder, conspiracy, and drive-by shooting, in relation to the slayings in Robinsonville, as the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office divulged Friday.
Back on November 10, Robinsonville became a crime scene when a shooting led to a catastrophic crash on Casino Center Drive. Two men and a pregnant woman were tragically found dead in an automobile, perforated with bullet holes. According to Action News 5, Carter is charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, one count of drive-by shooting, and one count of shooting into a motor vehicle as well.
In a separate but equally chilling incident, grief echoes through the hallways of justice in Jackson, where family members faced the accused megaphone for the murder of Carlos Collins, a 25-year-old nurse. "My brother was a light in this dark world. Even now that he’s gone, he’s still overpowering the darkness that Marcus bestowed upon him. My brother will live on," his sister expressed, as reported by WLBT. Former Jackson police officer, Marcus Johnson is accused of the heinous crime and has been denied bond by Judge June Hardwick over fears of him being a flight risk.
Turning back to the Tunica case, Carter stands accused of ending the lives of 23-year-old Steven Burts of Dundee, Tednequa Moore, 25 of Robinsonville, and Moore’s unborn child, in a violent episode that also claimed the life of Deshun Isabell, 24 of Tunica, who perished following the crash.
