Topeka woman arrested for striking a pedestrian with vehicle
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka Police Department officer noticed a vehicle strike a pedestrian while attending to another vehicle with its hazard lights on, near SE 10th and Branner Trfwy last Friday.
On April 5, just before midnight, an officer with the Topeka Police Department noticed a vehicle with its hazard lights on, and just before making contact with the vehicle, the officer witnessed a car strike a pedestrian.
The individual who was hit by the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Shortly after the individual who was struck and taken to a local hospital was transported, officers with the Topeka Police Department took the driver of the separate vehicle into custody.
That individual was later identified as Arlene Cardenas, 21, of Topeka.
Cardenas was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for the following:
- Aggravated battery; Knowingly use physical contact in angry/rude manner w/weapon
- Aggravated assault; Use of a deadly weapon
- Criminal damage to property; Felony
- Reckless Driving; Unknown Conviction
The investigation is ongoing.
