Walmart employee busted for stealing iPhones worth $13K: Police

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Walmart employee is in custody for allegedly stealing several pricey iPhones from the big box retailer.

According to the Shrewsbury Police Department’s probable cause statement, the theft happened on Wednesday, April 3, at the Walmart Supercenter off Watson Road in Shrewsbury.

Police claim Ashford L. Ivery (age not provided) stole 14 iPhones while working the overnight shift. The phones have a total value of more than $13,000.

Store management discovered the theft and notified the police. Ivery left the store and drove off before police arrived. A description of Ivery’s car was sent out and a St. Louis County police officer spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

Police claim Ivery sped off and attempted to evade authorities. He eventually crashed his car and tried running away with the stolen iPhones. An officer eventually subdued and arrested Ivery following a brief struggle.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Ivery with stealing – $750 or more and resisting arrest for a felony. He remains jailed on a $200,000 cash-only bond.

Ivery has prior convictions for unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree trespassing.
