AUSTIN — Coming off one of the worst losses of the season, No. 24 Baylor showed more fight in a 9-6 road loss to top-ranked Texas in the second game of a three-game series on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears finished the game tie 10 hits, just the second time the Longhorns have given up double-digit hits this season, and eight different Baylor players recorded a hit.
Aliyah Binford and Shaylon Govan both finished with two hits and two RBIs apiece, and Govan hit her fourth home run of the season. Abi Flores and Ana Watson each finished with one RBI, while Ashlyn Wachtendorf and Binford both had extra-base hits.
Binford suffered her ninth loss of the year, allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 13 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
The Bears jumped out to an early lead when Flores drove in a run in the first inning. Binford followed that up with a two-run double to score Flores and Carolina Rowatt.

The Longhorns answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the innings and took the lead in the third with a two-out RBI single.
Govan answered with a sac fly to tie the game in the fourth. Texas scored two runs on four hits, including back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth and added two more runs in the fifth, including a home run to center field.
Govan’s solo home run gave the Bears a spark in the sixth, but the Longhorns answered again with their second home run of the game.
Baylor and Texas close out the three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m. at McCombs Field in Austin.
