PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) - Police arrested two men suspected of a machete attack at a Paragould homeless camp.

According to court documents, police responded Saturday, April 13, to a wooded area north of the Eight Mile Creek, west of Vance Street, regarding a fight.

When officers arrived, they learned the fight had started “over someone defecating in a tent.”

The affidavit stated that Denzel T. Jackson and Christopher B. Sickler, both 25 and identified as homeless, had minor injuries to their hands. Each claimed the other had attacked them with a machete.

“Due to the conflicting stories of both defendants and both witnesses, officers elected to arrest both parties for aggravated assault,” Detective Sergeant Jacob Higdon said. “A machete was located and seized as evidence.”

On Sunday, April 14, Greene County District Judge Daniel Stidham found probable cause to charge both men with aggravated assault and set their bonds at $10,000 cash-only.

Stidham also issued no-contact orders for both men.
