Perfection: Lexington's Chapman tosses six-inning perfect game in win over Wooster

LEXINGTON — Some say perfection is unobtainable.

No one told Lexington junior Makaree Chapman that.

On Tuesday night, Chapman was perfect. She rifled a six-inning perfect game in an 11-0 win over Wooster to help Lady Lex stay perfect on the season at 7-0 and in the Ohio Cardinal Conference at 2-0.

She needed just 72 pitches, 46 were strikes, and faced just 18 batters in the run-rule victory. Chapman struck out 10 Wooster batters. She started the game off with a ground out and two strikeouts in the top of the first to set the tone. She struck out the next two in the second to reach four straight Ks before a groundout ended the inning.

She had a near immaculate inning in the third when she struck out the side on 12 pitches with just three of them being called balls. Chapman retired the side in the fourth on just eight pitches with two groundouts and a pop out before another efficient inning in the fifth with a strikeout, ground out and fly out on 12 pitches.
