The Duke men's basketball team is going to look quite different in 2024-25, and the transfer portal figures to be a major part of roster changes.

With that in mind, Brendan Marks of The Athletic shared what the Blue Devils will be looking for when they hit the portal with what could be three or four available scholarships if Jeremy Roach, TJ Power and Sean Stewart transfer.

Marks noted on Tuesday that Duke will target "a starting-caliber forward" who has experience and the ability to extend his game beyond the arc all while guarding down low. It will also look for a backup guard who can handle the ball and a backup big man.

Head coach Jon Scheyer will need to do some reshuffling after Kyle Filipowski and Jared McCain declared for the NBA draft. They were Duke's go-to options during the 2023-24 season and a major reason the program reached the Elite Eight.

B/R's Jonathan Wasserman projected them both as lottery picks in his most recent mock draft with McCain going No. 12 overall and Filipowski going No. 13 overall.

Fortunately for the Blue Devils, they have the nation's top-rated recruiting class coming in, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

The star of that class is Cooper Flagg, who is a 5-star prospect and the No. 1 overall player for the 2024 cycle, per 247Sports. He figures to become Duke's immediate go-to option with the ability to handle the ball and shoot from the frontcourt as a matchup nightmare. He also has the potential to be an elite interior defender.

Forwards Isaiah Evans and Kon Knueppel are also 5-star prospects, and the team received a boost when guards Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster announced they will return.

That gives Duke some experience in the backcourt, but it's not surprising Scheyer will reportedly focus on adding an experienced forward and big man in the portal. The frontcourt could be heavily reliant on the talented freshmen, so having some veterans at that position to fill out the depth chart should help in the season's biggest moments.

It is always Final Four or bust for the Blue Devils, and that will be no different during the upcoming campaign.

After all, they have been to at least the Elite Eight in two of the last three years and have no shortage of talent on the roster even before making any transfer-portal additions.
