Enrique Iglesias Releases ‘Final: Vol. 2’ Album, Formally Ending Part Of His Career

Following

Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias has had an expansive career over the past three decades. With countless awards and number-one singles to his name, Iglesias established himself as the King of Latin Pop in the U.S. and carried on the legacy of his father Julio Iglesias. But in the new decade, Iglesias has been winding down his own legacy; in 2021, he released Final (Vol. 1), the first installment of the final studio album of his career. Now, over two years later, he’s closing the chapter officially with Final (Vol. 2).

Iglesias signaled the beginning of the end was coming last September with the María Becerra collab “Así Es La Vida.” In November, he told Today that the closing act of Final was finished and on its way. “This is it,” he said. “I don’t think — no, I know, I won’t be doing any more albums.”

Last month, he rolled out two very different collaborations: “Fría” with Cuban singer Yotuel and “Space In Your Heart” with Miranda Lambert, the latter being an English version of his 2022 single “Espacio en Tu Corazón.” On Final (Vol. 2), he also invites some other major Latin artists to join in on the fun, including Dominican rapper El Alfa on “La Botella” and Mexican pop star Belinda on “Llórame Un Río.”

The Grammy winner largely sings in Spanish on the album, making it a fitting bookend to a career where he first introduced himself in his native language. Just like the Miranda Lambert collab, he sings in English on “Love and Pain” and “Be Together,” and while he still invites listeners to dance as he did in past English hits like “I Like It” and “Tonight (I’m F**kin’ You),” the songs are more pensive in nature, marking a shift in tone as he’s matured.

Iglesias has noted that he’s not disappearing forever and may release an occasional song, but Final (Vol. 2) closes the album-making chapter of his career. It remains unclear whether this means he won’t embark on one last farewell tour.
