Jeremy Harris

Reporter

Jeremy is an Emmy-award winning reporter for KOMO News in Seattle. His reporting is featured in daily news programs and on komonews.com. He also leads the station’s Project Seattle initiative, which focuses on in-depth reporting of the homelessness and drug crisis, as well as accountability for government resources used to address the issues in the region.

Jeremy came to KOMO from KUTV 2 in Salt Lake City. He started there as an assignment editor while in college and then worked as a reporter from 2014 to 2022.

He has a diverse reporting background, but his passion is to tell stories about public safety and criminal justice.

His reporting has a track record of getting results and leading to action. Jeremy’s reports on a shooting involving a security guard led regulators to file charges against a security company that he exposed was operating illegally.

After witnessing a plane crash in Utah, Jeremy shared the story of a driver who survived being struck by the plane in a Salt Lake City suburb. That story eventually led to a change in state law regarding insurance requirements for pilots.

In 2017, Jeremy reported for stations across the country from the scene of the mass shooting in Las Vegas. He has also covered wildfires in California and travelled to South Dakota where he shared exclusive reporting on the FBI’s pursuit and arrest of fugitive polygamist leader Lyle Jeffs. In 2021, Jeremy was the first reporter to uncover the FBI’s investigation of Calvin Curtis, a Salt Lake City lawyer who stole more than $12 million from his disabled clients and was later sentenced to federal prison.

Jeremy is a native of Denver and grew up in Littleton, Colorado. He is fluent in Spanish and lived in Mexico for a few years after high school.
