NBA rumors: Gregg Popovich on comfort level of Spurs: In the beginning, nobody knew what to do around Victor Wembanyama

Perhaps most importantly, the comfort level in terms of playing with rookie star Victor Wembanyama has increased. “They have gotten better and better as the year goes along,” Popovich said. “In the beginning, it was weird. Nobody knew what to do around Victor. He didn’t know what to do around them. They had never played before and with someone of Victor’s size. So it took time, but they are much more comfortable now.”

Draymond Green on Anthony Edwards impact on Wolves: Rudy Gobert actually isn't trash anymore

“What Anthony Edwards has taken those guys and done is absolutely amazing,” Green said, via The Draymond Green Show. “Like Rudy’s actually not trash anymore. A lot of people agree, he defends now… But I mean like when you see him on the switches he’s up at the level, he’s not just sitting back at the drop anymore. When he gets switched on to the guy, it’s like his antennas pop on, like oh I got to sit down they’re about to go at me and guard them. “I think it’s been interesting to watch because he is actually impacting winning and he’s actually doing that on the defensive end where as opposed to other series he’s gotten played off the floor.”
The 6-foot-8 forward is 7-for-22 from the field in the series when the brawny 6-4, 220-pound Dort is his main defender, according to Second Spectrum. “It’s a different defender who is physical,” Ingram told Andscape after Game 3. “With a defender like that, you have to be on the same page with your team with timing. You have to get the right pass. You have to get the right angle to make things easier. Along with their coach, their game plan is pivotal to try to deter stuff. “They know how we run our offense. He is able to beat me to the spot before I get there. You can tell he has done his homework. He uses everything that he’s got against you.”
“Honestly, at this point, it’s always wired in my head,” Dort said of defense. “When I get ready in the offseason, I know I’m going to be matched up with some of the best players every game. That is how I made my name in this league. That is how I earned those type of contracts that I’ve had and [I’m] able to take care of my family. Now, it’s just wired. What I need to do now to mentally get ready, I can already do that.”
During the former Arizona State star’s rookie season with the Thunder, then-teammates Chris Paul and Dennis Schroder told him that defense is his key to playing time. “I was just trying to find some minutes and playing time,” Dort said. “Dennis and Chris were the first ones to stay if they put you on the court, guard the best player full court. And I just developed this mentality to do that, which has helped.”

Tyrese Maxey: We're extremely confident we can come back and win three straight games

Still, they insist they haven’t lost confidence in themselves, or trust in each other. “Yeah, extremely confident,” said Maxey. “It’s a confident group over there honestly, just because we’ve been through a lot this year. And we know that. So when adversity hits we know how to bounce back from it. And we feel that we’re very capable of winning three games in a row. I’d say that’s first and foremost.
