Watch Golden Retriever Fall in Love With New Puppy Sibling in Adorable Clip

A golden retriever melted hearts on social media after his owners shared his reaction to getting a new puppy who looks just like him.

In a post shared on TikTok earlier in April, under the username archieandparker, the adult dog Archie can be seen wagging his tail as he walks toward his dad, who's holding the new family member. Archie can be seen struggling to contain his excitement at becoming a big brother.

It was love at first sight for the two pups, who now spend their days together, playing with toys, chasing each other and cuddling.

A caption shared with the post reads: "But what if our first dog will feel replaced? What if they don't get along? Best decision we ever made."

Dogs are social beings, which means that they need interaction with humans and other dogs. According to the U.K.-based Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, it's better to socialize dogs while they're still young, so they can have a better quality of life growing up.

The first thing to do when socializing your dog with other dogs is stocking up on treats, according to the dog wellness experts at Rover, so that you can reward your pup whenever they have a successful interaction with another dog.

It's also important to make sure that each interaction is enough for them to get acquainted, but not so long as to wear them out.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 4.7 million views and 575,100 likes on the platform.

One user, Isabell, commented: "And then the young one brings back the playful side of the older one." GeorgtheFrog said: "It's basically impossible to make a golden retriever jealous if you get them a friend."

Justin K wrote: "When we got our second they hated each other at first but then she brought back a spark that I had not seen in our old soul in years."

And user20154517868 added: "Senior dogs are really given life with a little one around, got a puppy when our guy was 9, he's 11 now and thriving."

Newsweek reached out to archieandparker for comment via TikTok chat. We could not verify the details of the case.
